Intralase Reduces Lasik Complications

Creating or repairing a corneal flap is how lasik surgery is performed. Today, instead of using a hand held blade to create the corneal flap, an Intralase computer glided blade is used. This has proven to be much more effective, safer and has given a higher success rate to lasik surgery procedures. Many people who undergo Lasik surgery when performed with Intralase come out of the procedure with perfect visiion. The computer glided blade greatly reduces any chance of the cornea getting scarred or any mistakes happening during the delicate operation.

In addition to being safer, the complications that often resulted in traditional Lasik surgery have been reduced or eliminated with the introduction of the Intralase method. Intralade is relatively new but is a procedure that is used by most in the field today as it is the preferred method for Lasik surgery.

Years ago, when Lasik eye surgery was first introduced, about 20 percent of all patients who underwent this procedure had extreme sensitivity to light after the procedure was performed. Today, thanks to Intralase, only about one percent of patients report photophobia. In addition to this side effect, there is less of a discomfort level while recovering for patients who undergo Lasik surgery from Intralase than those who undergo the procedure through traditional methods. The jury is in on Intralase and it has been determined to be the best way to perform this procedure.

The equipment for Intralase Lasik eye surgery can be costly for the physician performing the surgery, a cost that will be passed on to the consumer. However, most people are willing to pay a little bit more for this procedure that has proven to be safer and more effective, than less money for a procedure that may or may not work.

Lasik surgery does not work the same for everyone. Not everyone who experiences vision problems is a candidate for Lasik surgery. While some may see perfectly after the surgery, others find an improvement in their vision, but still need corrective lenses. Each person has different vision problems and each reacts differently to the surgery. However, there is a high success rate in correcting most common vision problems with Intralase Lasik surgery.

If you are wondering if Lasik eye surgery is right for you, schedule an appointment with your doctor for an evaluation. They will tell you what you can expect from this surgery. If you have mild to moderate eye vision problems, such as myopia, which is a common problem in many people, you may be able to toss away your glasses and contact lenses and see without them for the first time in years. Other people have reported that their vision improved to the point where they only needed glasses for certain times, such as driving.

Lasik surgery is among the most innovative technology for eye care that we have seen in years. Now with Intralase Lasik surgery, this innovation has been taken a step further and allowed many people who were burdened by glasses, to be able to see clearly for the first time in their lives.
